The words of Kamal Haasan during the promotional event of Thug Life are being discussed on social media. The media asked Trisha and Simbu about their marital status. This made Kamal Haasan talk about marrying twice.
Kamal revealed that journalist and Rajya Sabha MP John Brittas had previously asked him about marrying twice. John Brittas asked why he did not follow the path of Lord Rama, having only one wife, despite coming from a Brahmin family.
'Firstly, I don’t pray to any god. I don’t follow the path of Lord Rama, but I follow his father’s (Dasharatha) path,' replied Kamal. According to Ramayana, Dasharatha has three wives--Kaushalya, Sumithra and Kaikeyi. Kausalya is Lord Rama’s mother.
Kamal first married dancer Vani Ganapathy in 1978. However, this relationship did not last long. The two got separated in 1988. Kamal later married actress Sarika and has two daughters-- Shruti Haasan and Akshara Haasan. The couple divorced in 2004. Kamal was later in a live-in relationship with actress Gauthami from 2005 but they broke ties later.
